Meera, 35 - Doctor
I'm a doctor working in emergency medicine. I supervise and encourage the junior doctors and the nursing staff. We work as a team resuscitating and treating sick children and adults and refer them to the appropriate specialties. It's a high pace job but it's so rewarding.

My big tip...
Remember that the choice you make at university does not necessarily mean you will have to follow a profession in that field in later life. I was very lucky in knowing I wanted to become a doctor, but if you're not sure what you want to do in later life, don't worry. In that situation, think of things you love learning about and think where that degree might take you later. And please remember that universities are not just about super smart people. I'm not super smart but I worked hard and I loved what I do, and that's why I am a doctor. Just try your hardest and believe in yourself, and you'll get there. I went through the loss of a parent whilst I was at university but I kept my head down and studied because that's what my dad and I wanted for myself. Believe in yourself and you can achieve literally anything.
